Brisbane Jacaranda Mini Sessions 2025. A Season to Remember!

There is a particular moment in Brisbane each year when the jacaranda trees begin to bloom.
Almost overnight the streets and parks are dusted in purple petals. The air feels a little warmer, the light a little softer, and suddenly every walk with your dog feels like it belongs in a photograph.
That is exactly why the Tails of Time Jacaranda Mini Sessions have become such a special part of the year.

A Season Dogs (and Their Humans) Love
This year’s sessions were full of wagging tails and curious noses investigating the carpets of fallen petals.
Some dogs arrived bursting with energy, bounding through the flowers and looking delighted with the whole situation. Others were a little more relaxed, happy to sit beside their person and soak up the sunshine beneath the trees.
Those quieter moments often end up being my favourites. A gentle glance toward their owner. A dog sitting proudly in the middle of the purple petals. The kind of image that feels simple and timeless.

Brisbane Weather Had Other Plans
Of course, Brisbane weather likes to keep things interesting.
One of our sessions ended with the sky turning VERY dark and dramatic. Thick clouds rolled in, followed by the distant sound of thunder. And then BANG - torrential rain. The biggest storm all season, and we sheltered under the library awning until it passed.
We managed to capture a few photographs just before the rain arrived. The light was moody and the jacaranda petals glowed against the stormy sky.
Those images ended up being some of my favourites from the whole season.
I had to wait to share them, ad they were a Christmas gift for someone very special.

Why Jacaranda Sessions Are So Popular
Jacaranda season only lasts a few weeks each year.
The short window makes these sessions feel a little magical. For a brief moment Brisbane is filled with purple blooms and soft light, and then the petals disappear again until next spring.
For many clients, these sessions become a yearly tradition with their dogs.
Looking Ahead to Next Year
If you missed the jacaranda sessions this year, don't worry.
They will return later this year when Brisbane’s trees begin their purple bloom again.
And just like the petals themselves, the available spots tend to disappear quickly.
If you would love to photograph your dog beneath Brisbane’s jacaranda trees next season, the best thing to do is join the list early.
