It was Tuesday, a beautiful winters day right on the cusp of spring. A perfect 24 degrees, warm sunshine and barely a cloud in the sky. I arrived at this session early, purely because it was such a beautiful day and I wanted a little extra time in the sunshine. My model for the day was the greatly handsome Theodore. Theo is a French bulldog, who was chosen to appear in our 2018 Charity Calendar. I mean, who could resist that handsome face? Certainly not me! Right off the bat Theo proved he knew exactly what to do in front of a camera. Just look at this.
Theo's owner, Kim, chose a beach location because he loves the beach. Luckily for Theo, he knew how to work a camera, so we got all the modelling done in record time, which meant it was time to give Theo a break. For Theo, this meant RUNNING! For me, it was the perfect opportunity to capture some candid shots, dogumentary style. There's just something about the pure joy that you can see on a dogs face when they are allowed to run free and do what comes naturally.
After some running we ventured into the nearby sand dunes for a few more portraits. Perfect with the golden glow cast onto the dunes by the setting sun, perfectly matched to Theo's red fawn coat.
We were just about to call it a day, until I saw the sea wall and the red light pole at the end. Thankfully Theo didn't mind pulling out his modelling moves for just a few more snaps!
